  Act No. 938, September 12, 1969, created the Houston County Board of Commissioners.  This Board consists of a chairman and four commissioners.  The Chairman is elected at-large (elected by voters from the entire County).  The chairman must be a registered voter and resident of the County.  The four Commissioners are elected by voters in each of the County's four districts.  Each Commissioner must be a registered voter and live within the district they represent.  All serve four year terms.  The Chairman is authorized to vote only in case of a tie.

Meetings are held the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 10:00 a.m.
          
 Administrative Meetings
Meetings are held Thursday prior to the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 10:00 a.m
