Houston County Online Tag Renewal System

Before you begin using the online Tag Renewal System please have the following items present:

• To renew your vehicle tag, you must have received a renewal notice.  If you did not receive a notice or the notice does not have the Record # present, you cannot use the online Tag Renewal System.

• A valid driver’s license or Alabama non-driver ID issued by the Alabama Department of Public Safety.

• A valid credit card (MasterCard or Visa).
• You will be asked to supply the CVV2/CVC2 number on the back of your credit card.
  
  
   

Fees Charged for online Tag Renewal System:

            $2.00 Convenience fee for each tag renewed online.

            $1.00 Mail fee if metal plate is being issued.

If you have any kind of changes such as address changes or you want to change any kind of tag information, you must come to the Probate office.

You may renew online during your renewal month only.

The online Tag Renewal System will be closed from the 26^th of each month to the last day of the month, which is the same cutoff as mail-in renewals.

The following tag types cannot be renewed online at this time because of documentation needed to renew the tags:

          Amateur Radio              Fraternal Order of Police

          National Guard               Active Reserve

          Disabled Veterans         Rescue Squad

          Firefighter                      Handicap

          Educator                        Realtor
