The patch worn by the Houston County Sheriff's Department was redesigned in 1999 to be symbolic of their dedication to the public service in the new millennium.  In support of the rights of its citizens, the motto, "honor, service, integrity", underscore the department's heritage since its creation in 1903.  Eagles represent the courage of law enforcement and stand as centurions protecting the will of the people, represented by the flags which have flown over the state.  The white lettering stands for light, peace and truth.  The unity of law enforcement is represented by the scroll which serves as the foundation of its mission statement.  The gold color represents its value to the community it serves.  The gray background represents the
multiracial heritage of the people within the county's green
agricultural borders.  The arched organizational title represents the continuing forces of adversity facing the law enforcement community.
